Super Simple Mini Chocolate Cream Pies

This is awesome if you want an elegant dessert with super little prep.  It doesn’t taste quite as fabulous as making real chocolate cream pie, but when you can do it in a quarter of the time, you’ll think this heaven.

SUPER SIMPLE MINI CHOCOLATE CREAM PIE

Ingredients:
1 Small (4oz) Package of Instant Chocolate Pudding
4-5 Graham Crackers (the big ones that divide into 4 rectangles)
1/4 cup Butter
1/4 cup of White Sugar

Directions:
Put the graham crackers in a zip top baggie and smash them until they are crumbs.  Using a rolling pin to roll over the crackers will help smash them fine enough.

Once you have crumbs instead of crackers, melt your butter in a microwave-safe glass.  Mix sugar in with the graham cracker crumbs.  Stir until evenly distributed.  Pour your butter in the graham cracker crumbs and sugar.  Mix well.  (I do all my mixing in the zippered baggie.)  Press the graham cracker mixture into small bowls.  Mix up the pudding according to the package instructions.  Pour your pudding in on top of the cracker crusts.  Refrigerate until used.  Serve.

Serves 2-3, Depending on how thick you make your crusts.  You could probably squeeze 4 out of it if you tried.
If you want to dress up your mini pies, add some whipped cream, a drizzle of chocolate sauce. Add a fresh raspberry or strawberry for some color.  Chocolate shavings are also a good way to dress it up.  You can also substitute the graham cracker crust for an Oreo crust.  This is a great dessert that the kiddos can help prepare, but it can be a fancy date-night dessert too,

What’s Your Opinion?

I’m beginning to think about scheduling future events.  It you notice on the Upcoming Events page, we are getting close to the end of what is already listed.  I have a “Spring Fever Week” coming up the first full week in March, where I’ll help you rid those winter blues and get ready for some warmer weather (we can hope, right?!?  I don’t know about you, but I’m so done with winter!).  After that I plan on doing some organizing and cleaning posts under the theme of Spring Cleaning.  Other than that… I have no plans.  So, here’s your chance to give some input… What do you want to see posts about?  Crafts?  Recipes?  Kid-Friendly Ideas?  Cleaning and Organizing?  Doing Cartwheels?  Any suggestions are welcome!  Leave a comment with your ideas or email me… whilehewasnapping@gmail… also, if you’re interested in guest posting, I’d be thrilled to have you.  Let me know!

Saint Patrick’s Day Subway Art

Well, Valentine’s Day is officially over and you know what that means, right?  Time to move on to the next holiday.  Now, I’m aware that next Monday is Washington’s Birthday and President’s Day, but really…  What kind of subway art could I do with that, right?  I’m sure I could come up with something, but most people know it as a day off of school (and work, if you’re federally employed) and a reason for car dealerships to have a “sale” and air obnoxious commercials.  Besides, I was feeling LUCKY when I made this up.  Lame?  Yes, I know.

And the reason you’re really here:

I made it 5×7″, but my computer has done some wacky things with the last few pieces I saved… if it’s actually larger, well, guess you’re LUCKY too.  If it’s smaller, let me know and I’ll see what I can to do fix it.  All the testing I’ve done on it seems to make it 5×7″ or larger though.  This piece is 100% free.  Visit 4shared and download them.  Again, we have black font on a white background so you can print on whatever you want.  There is piece that has the shamrock in green instead of black.  Enjoy!  And I’d love to see what you do with it.  If you do take it, please become a follower, if you aren’t already… =]  Thanks!

Speaking of, you may remember the Valentine Subway Art I made up… Carrie at Dittle Dattle made a cool pillow out of it (by the way, if you haven’t checked that out, you really should!)… well, Vicki at Green Eyed Girl Crafts made this cute, sparkly edition with it.  I love me some sparkles!  Awesome job, Vicki!

The ABC’s of Love: K is for

K- Kiss, Kindness, Kama Sutra, Knowledge, Keep, Key, Kids, Karaoke, King, Kitchen

Ideas:
Kisses- Get some Hershey’s Kisses (they might even have the Valentine ones on sale tomorrow!) and spell out a message with the kisses.  Glue the wrapped chocolate to a piece of poster board or butcher paper.  DON’T use hot glue to attach the kisses, though.  They’ll melt!

Knowledge- Teach each other something.  Or learn something new together.  Or learn about each other.  If you’re a new couple the last one will be pretty easy.  Try a new recipe or take on a home improvement project together.  We installed a ceiling fan with a dimmer switch.  My Mr. Right even did all the electrical wiring stuff.  We also visited some of the places that My Mr. Right grew up… Sometimes, that’ll explain a lot!

Key-  Give your sweetheart the key to your heart.  The key to your first house you lived in together along with a little message is an idea.  Or try to get your hands on a skeleton key for a more rustic charm.

Kids-  Do something with your kids.  Hopefully, they came along because of the love you share with your sweetie… right!?!  Spend some time with them.  They can benefit from the ABC’s of Love too.

Karaoke-  Bring out the CD’s or the Wii and sing karaoke.  Make it a competition or everyone join in and have fun.

Kitchen-  Try a new recipe for dinner.  If it’s a miserable flop, Mac & Cheese is quick and easy… so is the McDonald’s down the street.  Sometimes it’s one of those nights.  If you’re trying a new dessert, grab a couple extra boxes of instant pudding.  Who doesn’t like pudding?  And it’s quick and easy.

I'm Krista. Ringleader here on While He Was Napping, wife to my handsome Mr. Right & momma to my THREE energetic boys, Big J (9), Little J (6) & Little N (4). We FINALLY added a beautiful little girl to our family last December.

I’m knee-deep in Tonka trucks & Thomas trains. I survive our crazy days with Vanilla Coke, Sonic slushies, sweet snuggles and little giggles. When I tuck them in tight & kiss them good night, I get a little time to create & just be me.
