HOSPITAL BAG MUST-HAVE #8:
Lanolin. I don’t care what brand, but I promise you will bless your little tub or tube of lanolin. This stuff is so good for so many things that will be cracked and possibly bleeding. Most mamas know this as nipple cream. Definitely use it for that! Only a crazy person would repeatedly allow someone to suck raw such a sensitive body part – but love makes you do crazy things! Until your nipples toughen up, apply your lanolin after every feeding.
I also use it on my lips. It is the only thing that can keep my lips from being chapped and cracked in the dry hospital air. I put it on rough or dry patches of skin too. You’ll be washing your hands a million times a day (that may actually be the literal count) and your hands will be so dry. Slather them up with your lanolin!
Okay, momma! Are you feeling a little more prepared now? Hopefully, you now have a checklist of items to pack in your bag.
Congratulations on your baby! I’m so excited for you!
