HOSPITAL BAG MUST-HAVE #1:
After my first baby, I never would have thought I needed to bring my own sanitary pads. Yeah, seriously. Turns out some hospitals provide them and some don’t. And some provide just enough to give you time to call someone and beg them to bring you some.
My hospital provided me with four sanitary pads. FOUR. So, find out for sure if your hospital provides enough for the entire time you’ll be there before you assume they do. I found I’d rather be safe than sorry and just take my own.
These Always overnight pads are the most comfortable ones I’ve found and they are great at locking away leaks. They absolutely feel like a diaper, but everything this size does. I like that these keep me feeling drier than all the other pads I’ve tried.
My hospital did provide a can of Dermoplast spray and the Peri-Bottle, that’s pretty standard and will become your BFF. But take your own sanitary pads. It’s one less thing you’ll have to worry about.
HOSPITAL BAG MUST-HAVE #2:
Water bottle. One that holds at least 32 ounces. I love the narrow mouth Nalgene bottle and there’s lots of colors to choose from. You will be SOO thirsty after labor and delivery! And breastfeeding will leave you super thirsty too. Get something you won’t have to refill every five minutes so you can spend more time doing important things, like holding your amazing baby!
