I’d seen these floating around blogland since like Halloween. I was in love. How cute, right? I’m not sure where I first saw the idea, but I’ve seen them on a couple blogs. Cute, but we have incredibly limited space at the moment. So, make them and gift them! Woo. Lucky, lucky sister-in-law and friends! Yes, I made two. I only took pictures of the one, and unfortunately, they were only finished pictures. I was in such a frenzy trying to get everything done, I didn’t take “during pictures”. Sorry.
Here’s the how to:
1. You will need a terra cotta pot, a pot base, a glass fish bowl and a round cabinet knob.
2. Paint your pot, pot base and knob.
3. Turn the pot upside down and glue the glass bowl to the bottom of the pot. I used LocTite glue, the same glue I used on these Hurricane Vases. Let sit for at least 24 hours. Also turn the pot base upside down. Glue the knob to the base. Let that sit too.
4. Fill the bowl with candy, nuts, or whatever you want. Tie with a ribbon and gift.
This pot I painted the rim of the pot white. I also cut out vinyl (“candy” on one and “treats” on the other). That’s up to you if you want to do those steps or not.
If you were given this gift, stop. Unless you want to know what a cheapskate I am…
Cost Breakdown:
The cabinet knob we got at Lowe’s for $.99 and the pot base for $1.29. We got the pot for $1.69. The fish bowls for $2 at the thrift store.
