Ok, the inspiration for this project actually came from Jessica over at Me and My Bucket. She made the cutest sign that she took to a boutique. I love, Love, LOVED it! Although, I don’t have that kind of space for a sign. Three feet tall, seriously, where would I put that…? And our storage unit is becoming overfull with “when we get our own house” items. My Mr Right told me to stop buying stuff for a house we don’t have and put the money toward the house… probably a good idea, ok I know he’s right… but don’t tell him I admitted to it!
Anyways, back to the point. I wanted one, but not one of these. Confused? I love the idea, but it’s just not practical for us. Maybe one day, but for now… This is what I came up with to fill my need for such a super cute sign.
My Mr Right was the brains behind this operation. And because of such I can’t really give a good tutorial. I don’t know all the technical names for all the hardware and the wood. The sticks were dowels (a square one and a round one), the platform was a pre-cut… thing. I found it in the lumber section at Home Depot. My Mr Right drilled a hole in the base, shaved down the square dowel and then it fit perfect. See how technical I am…? Then I used hooks and eyes to attach them. The sign was a pre-cut plank that I can probably get 3-4 more signs out of. What I like the most………… I can make different signs for different times of the year! Next time maybe I’ll ask more questions and learn the names of things. Here’s a whole bunch of pictures, in case you’re so inclined to try and figure this out. Sorry for such an awful tutorial on this one!
If you would like to purchase a sign similar to this one, please email me and we can discuss the details.
