Craftsy ‘Cause I Can: I Spy Bags

So, if you have little ones you know how stressful it can be to travel.  Not only do you have to remember the one billion and three things little kids need and make sure they all make it into a suitcase, there’s the actual aspect of traveling.  We will be taking a road trip for Thanksgiving and that means hours and hours and hours in the car with our 15-month old.  Does that intimidate you like it does me?!?  YIKES!  So, I’ve been brainstorming ideas for things he can do in the car.  Granted, he is only 15 months.  His favorite thing?  Running around outside.  Definitely not sitting in car seat restraints for days on end.  Good luck, Momma, right?

Enter I Spy Bags

Here is a fantastic idea!  I found the concept over at A Girl and a Glue Gun.  She goes crazy about back-to-school like I do, and used some of those pencil pouches to make an I Spy bag.  I was co-in-charge of our Super Saturday and this was one of our crafts.  My Monkey is too little for the actual I Spy game, but he LOVES to look at all the stuff inside the bag.  I actually found some little backpack clear vinyl things at the Dollar Store that fit in his hands better than the pencil pouch and that’s Little Monkey’s I Spy bag.  They originally had erasers in them, but they put those in their I Spy bags they made at Super Saturday.  I put in some random things, filled it with rice (for some reason my mom had a ton of rice, and she’s allergic to it… so, I Spy bag filler it became).  Make sure you sew up the zipper and Voila!  What a great little travel companion for your little travel companions!

There are both full-sized and miniature I Spy bags available in my Etsy Shop.  What a great little “time buyer” for your kids.  And they are quiet!  That means you can take them to church!

I'm Krista. Ringleader here on While He Was Napping, wife to my handsome Mr. Right & momma to my THREE energetic boys, Big J (9), Little J (6) & Little N (4). We FINALLY added a beautiful little girl to our family last December.

I’m knee-deep in Tonka trucks & Thomas trains. I survive our crazy days with Vanilla Coke, Sonic slushies, sweet snuggles and little giggles. When I tuck them in tight & kiss them good night, I get a little time to create & just be me.
